Abstract

A 54-year-old goldsmith presented with dimness of vision, redness, and watering in the left eye for two weeks. The patient had a history of occupational injury 28 years back. Slit-lamp examination revealed a golden intraocular foreign body (IOFB) in the anterior chamber (AC) along with conjunctival congestion, corneal oedema, and descemet folds. High-resolution imaging detected the metal. The patient underwent IOFB removal, phacoemulsification, IOL placement, and Descemet Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty. The visual acuity improved significantly. This is the first case report of a gold IOFB with the longest duration leading to corneal decompensation and cataracts, which were managed successfully.
