Abstract

purpose-to examine utilisation patterns of cornea procured from diseased individuals >75 years of age at an eyebank in western india.
methods- retrospective study-data from 1217 eyes of 653 donors were reviewed from oct 2008 to dec 2019.Donor age, lens status , endothelial cell count , utilisation of tissue from transplant or non clinical purpose and causes of non utilisation were noted.
results- mean age 80.9+/- 4.6 years and tissue utilisation of 36.5%. Eyes utilised for keratoplasty had lower donor age, higher endothelial cell contend were more often phasic compared to unused group.
