VT0065 : "Temporary K-Pro with PPV with IOL explant with glued IOL with Optical penetrating keratoplasty"

Abstract

58 year female with RE pseudophakia and LE post traumatic healed keratitis with aphakia with IOL drop on ultrasound underwent LE simultaneous temporary keratoprosthesis with pars plana vitrectomy with IOL explant with glued IOL with optical penetrating keratoplasty. She had history of trauma to LE following a fall 5 years back after which she developed diminution of vision. Her visual acuity in LE was finger counting close to face with accurate projection of rays in all 4 quadrants. We could find a faint SICS scar on supero-nasal sclera 2 mm behind the limbus with a central 6x 5 mm leucomatous corneal opacity with nasal iris defect. Ultrasound imaging of LE had high amplitude spikes in posterior vitreous with IOL reverberations. However, patient denied any surgery in the LE. She underwent a diagnostic endoscopy which revealed an IOL in the vitreous cavity. We decided to go ahead with a combined surgery as PPV with IOL explant was not feasible due to the dense corneal opacity.
