Abstract
This video shows a successful phacoemulsification with IOL implantation procedure in an 85-year-old patient with severe Parkinsonism characterized by intractable head tremors. Due to systemic issues, general anesthesia was not an option. To address the challenge posed by the patient's head tremors, innovative techniques were employed. Surgical maneuvers were carefully synchronized with the patient's tremor cycles to ensure precision during moments of relative stability. The surgery was completed without complications, leading to significant visual improvement postoperatively. This case highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, involving ophthalmologists, anesthesiologists, and neurologists, in adapting surgical strategies for patients with Parkinsonism and intractable head tremors, ultimately improving their quality of life.
