Abstract

A 30-year-old HIV-positive woman experienced sudden vision loss in her right eye after childbirth. Examination revealed no light perception in the right eye and 20/20 vision in the left eye, with normal intraocular pressure. Fundus examination showed a swollen disc, tortuous vessels, and extensive retinal hemorrhages with a cherry-red spot at macula. Fluorescein Angiography indicated delayed retinal circulation( arm -retina time 31s) complete absence of vessels staining(upto 8mins) and staining of the disc.CT orbit revealed an optic nerve sheath meningioma. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) confirmed retinal ischemia. A diagnosis of combined arterial and venous occlusion due to the ONH meningioma was made. The patient was referred for systemic management. The son was the sun of his mother’s eye in expense of her light. Unfortunately, no visual recovery was expected in the right eye, and the importance of protecting the vision in the left eye was emphasized
