Abstract
Study design:Prospective cohort study
Purpose :To describe the incidence and pattern of ROP and its management in tertiary care centre.
Method :All infants with birth weight <2kg or gestational age <36 weeks or babies with higher birth weight or gestational age if advised by neonatologist, were screened for ROP during study period.ICROP 3 was used for classification of ROP. Standard guidelines were used for management and follow up of cases. Incidence, clinical pattern and treatment response of ROP were noted.
Result :Total 623 infants screened, 8% were diagnosed with ROP. In preterm, ROP was 13%, type 1 in 9.5% & type 2 in 3.9%. Mean GA & BW of cohort was 33 weeks and 2kg respectively.76.5% cases were AROP. 85.3% of cases treated primarily with antivegf. With antivegf therapy 37% eyes needed rescue laser.
Conclusion :Incidence of ROP total cohort is 8% whereas in preterm it was 13%. There was high prevalence of AROP cases. Antivegf therapy was most common treatment modality used.
