Abstract
Purpose: To report a rare case of eyelid porocarcinoma.
Methods: Analysis of electronic medical records and histopathological examination of specimens of a case a 70-year-old male who presented with an ulcerative growth arising from ]the left lower eyelid for 2 years was done. Incisional biopsy was suggestive of benign adnexal tumour, poroma and hidradenoma. The patient was planned for excision biopsy and the defect in the lower lid was reconstructed with the help of a modification of Tenzel’s flap. Histopathology was suggestive of eccrine porocarcinoma of the eyelid. A whole-body PET-CT scan was requested which revealed no abnormal uptake in the eyelids, eye or the orbital region. Tumour was staged as T3cN0M0.
Results: Final histopathology revealed a carcinoma even though initial biopsy showed a benign picture.
Conclusion: Porocarcinoma of the eyelids are extremely rare. Knowledge of this tumor helps to plan further management.
