Abstract

Purpose-To show a case of Advanced Glaucoma following Inhalational Steroid.
Methods- 75-yr lady Asthmatic since childhood on Inhalational steroid on and off. Got operated for cataract surgery 12 yrs back for BE.2 years back she went for a check-up and was diagnosed RE-Advanced Glaucoma with IOP of 34 and LE 26 with normal fundus.RE IOP was under control with max topical drops and LE with 2 drops for 1 year. Suddenly IOP rose to 54 with max topical drops in RE and LE 24 with 2 drops. History revealed that for past 4 months she was taking daily 4 puffs of budesonide which could have aggravated. Finally, she underwent Trab with MMC in RE and referred to pulmonologist. IOP came to control.
Results- Medically controlled steroid induced Glaucoma became uncontrollable after increasing the dose and frequency.
Conclusion– Increase in frequency and dose of steroids can lead to a decompensation of IOP in well controlled pts. so careful monitoring of IOP is required to prevent advanced damage.
