FP0441 : An Innovative, Self Built, 3D, Cost Effective, Smart Phone App For Simulative MIGS Learning

Abstract

To make glaucoma concept learning & patient counselling better, we have innovated and self-built a totally 3D app (Eye_MG_Holo), depicting the ocular anatomy and pathophysiology, for simulative learning. Currently, there are no simulation apps on the smartphone for ophthalmic clinics and MIGS surgery. In this app, we have used real-time, high-resolution, TrueColour, confocal images for constructing eye models and have built it on 3D augmented reality. Only a powerful cognitive tool like a 3D atlas with real unanimated images, where users can choose their optimal frame, cross-section, and amount of zoom, to visualise various parts of the eye, can fill in these mental gaps. Also, this app aids in simulative learning and honing hand-eye coordination for ophthalmic microsurgery like MIGS. Currently, this app is available free of cost for iPhone users from App Store. It simplifies ophthalmic learning and aids in e-counselling, allowing users to not have any dark side regarding MIGS.
