FP0419 : Duoplator: A novel instrument for Toric IOL alignment in small pupils.

Abstract

Study Design: Prospective Interventional study
Purpose :To demonstrate the applications of Duoplator a novel instrument for simultaneous stretching of the pupil and Toric IOL dialling in cases of intraoperative miosed pupils.
Materials and methods :This study was conducted on 120 eyes of patients who developed intraoperative miosis during Phacoemulsification and were planned for a Toric IOL implantation. The Duoplator was used to concurrently stretch the pupil and dial the Toric IOL into the desired axis with irrigation on.
Result :This single step procedure is not only time efficient but ensures immaculate precision in axis placement of the Toric IOL. It is economical and has a very easy learning curve.
Conclusion :The Duoplator is an essential tool in the armamentarium of a Cataract surgeon for effective Axis placement of Toric IOL’s in intraoperatively miosed pupils.
