Abstract
46 year old female complains of left eye lower lid swelling since 3 days associated with pain. Patient gives history of similar complaints 3 months ago after insect bite. Status post mastectomy, radiotherapy, chemotherapy for breast carcinoma. On local examination lower lid swelling was 4×2 cm which was hard in consistency, non mobile with mild tenderness. Patient was provisionally diagnosed as left eye preseptal cellulitis and was started on oral antibiotics, analgesics. On follow up there was no improvement in signs or symptoms. Patient was planned for left lower lid excision biopsy which showed giant cell reaction around parsite with thick cuticle and circumferential muscle layer suggestive of Dirofilariasis.
