FP1969 : Title – To study the outcomes of MSICS in patients with mature cataract having PXF syndrome.

Abstract

Purpose: To assess the visual outcome , intraoperative and postoperative complications of small incision cataract surgery in patients with mature cataract having PXF syndrome.
Material and methods: A prospective study was conducted from May2022-March2023 including 72 patients having mature cataract with PXF in a tertiary care centre. All patients underwent ophthalmologic evaluation prior to surgery,follow up was done on day 1, week 1, 1st month and 3rd month.
Results: Out of 72 patients 53% were females, 62% had bilateral PXF and 68 % were >60yrs. Rigid pupil was noted in 35% and required intraoperative management,zonular dialysis (7%),posterior capsular rent (4%),nuclear drop (2%). On postoperative follow up 88% had corneal edema on day1, irregular pupil and decentered IOL was noted in 22%, 10% respectively at the end of 3rd month.70% achieved postoperative BCVA of 6/12 or better at 1 month.
