FP0374 : To report a case of sympathetic ophthalmitis in endophthalmitis with corneal ulcer

Abstract

Study design— observational restrospective study
Purpose— Evaluate clinical profile ,management and outcomes of a sympathetic ophthalmitis
Methods — Records of a patient with sympathetic ophthalmitis were evaluated.
Results- A 76 years old female with left eye post cataract surgery endophthalmitis , underwent VR surgery for endophthalmitis elsewhere ,but results were not satisfactory. She presented to us with left eye non resolving endophthalmitis with corneal ulcer, right eye was stable.After 6months right eye had diminished vision a/w AC cells,vitritis,ILM folds,BALAD in OCT. Initially treated with IVMP & oral steroid,IMT. No response after 2 weeks,IVMP was repeated and same conservative treatment approach was continued , which lead to complete resolution and improvement in vision.
Conclusion- Sympathetic ophthalmitis must always be ruled out in one eyed patient
