Abstract

Purpose:To report a rare association of choroidal metastasis in a patient with primary esophageal squamous cell carcinoma with brain metastasis and its management
Methods:Color fundus photograph, SDOCT, FFA, B scan and CEMRI were evaluated in a 37-year-old male patient with a known case of squamous cell carcinoma of esophagus.
Result:An ophthalmic examination revealed disc edema in both eyes with choroidal lesion with overlying subretinal fluid in left eye.SD-OCT showed choroidal elevation with shaggy photoreceptors with overlying subretinal fluid. B scan showed choroidal mass in temporal quadrant.FFA showed disc leakage and hyperfluorescence in late venous phase. CEMRI revealed multiple brain metastasis. Whole brain radiation therapy including choroid was delivered. There was resolution of disc edema and subretinal fluid on follow-up.
Conclusion: This case highlights the rare association of choroidal metastasis in a patient with primary esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
