Abstract

A 70 years old male presented with a recurrent limbal leukoplakic lesion in the right eye. Excision biopsy of the lesion with cryotherapy and amniotic membrane transplantation was done. Histopathological examination revealed a fibroepithelial polyp (FEP) with foci of ocular surface squamous neoplasia. On subsequent follow ups , the patient showed a healthy ocular surface with no evidence of any recurrence. Though the incidence of fibroepithelial polyps (FEP) among eye lid lesions was found to be 8.6% , however the presence of a limbal fibroepithelial polyp (FEP) is very rare. Our case documents the rare presentation of a limbal fibroepithelial polyp in association with an ocular surface squamous neoplasia, which to our knowledge, has not been previously reported. This case also highlights the importance of proper management of an ocular surface lesion to prevent further recurrence.
