Abstract
Study: Randomised comparative pilot study
Design/ Methods: 20 fungal keratitis patients total. Diagnosed on the basis of KOH/ Confocal microscopy/ culture positivity. 10 patients in each group.
Group A: topical caspofungin 0.5%
Group B: topical natamycin 5%
Both 1 hourly day and night initially and then tapered according to the clinical Response.
Purpose: to find an alternative to natamycin for fungal keratitis
Results: . It had comparable BCVA, healing time, and scar size with topical natamycin.
Conclusion:
topical caspofungin is an alternative to natamycin for fungal keratitis.
