Abstract
Aim – To demonstrate the advantages of AMserter in treating persistent corneal epithelial defects.
Method- AMserter was used in a 19-year-old female who presented with corneal epithelial defect
secondary to TEN. Persistent corneal epithelial defects with or without ulceration are a serious and urgent
clinical problem which can be complicated by microbial infections and thus threaten patients vision.
We report a case of 19-year-old female presented with a diagnosis of TEN. On day 5 of
admission, her vision drops to HMCF in the right eye and CF more than 2 meters in the left eye.
Epithelial defect of size 9mmx7 mm noted, in the right eye. Patient was planned amniotic membrane
transplantation with AMserter under TA.AMG was stretched over the surface and anchored in
fornices with AMserter ring.
Results- AMserter ring was removed after 2 weeks and her vision improved – 6/18Conclusion-Uses of AMserter1) Stored like regular AM and used when required 2)At the bedside inserted like a conformer
