Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy after LASIK in eyes with steep and normal preoperative keratometry (K).
Methods: Retrospectively, records of 46 eyes with a K value of more than 47.50 D were matched with 91 eyes with a K value of 42-47.5 D, who underwent conventional LASIK for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism between January 2021 and December 2021. Preoperative spherical equivalent, keratometry, astigmatism, corneal irregularity measurement and pachymetry values were compared between the groups. At 3 months postoperatively, we assessed the efficacy.
Results: The efficacy indices were 0.985 ± 0.174 and 0.996 ± 0.039 in steep and normal corneas, respectively. The preoperative keratometry, astigmatism, path finder values showed clinically significant differences between the groups. Loss of single Snellen line in patients with steep cornea was 10.86% and 1.09 % in normal cornea.
Conclusions: Conventional LASIK offered a good outcome for eyes with steep corneas.
