FP0048 : Clinical outcomes of wavefront-optimized Advance Surface Ablation with Streamlight for high myopia

Abstract

PURPOSE: To analyse visual outcomes of ASA performed with EX 500 excimer laser with wavefront optimised software Streamlight for high myopia.
METHODS: Retrospective comparative trial of high myopic eyes (+/> 6 dioptres) treated with transepithelial ASA with an Ex 500 excimer laser with the Streamlight Technology ablation software. The total number of eyes was 230 of 120 patients. Patients were observed for 6 months.
RESULTS: A total of 230 eyes of 120 patients were evaluated. The eyes with < 6D or > 10 dioptres of SQ were excluded. At 6 months 98.8% of the eyes achieved 6/6 or 100 % of preoperative visual acuity. 31.6% of eyes gained 1-2 lines. 1.2% of eyes lost 1-2 lines. The satisfaction of patients was very high.
CONCLUSIONS: ASA with the Ex 500 excimer with newer WFO epithelial removal ( Streamlight) aimed at reducing the final superficial irregularity, led to improvement of 6-month uncorrected visual acuity. It is a safe and better alternative for treating high myopia.
