Abstract

to report a case of carotico cavernous fistula misdiagnosed as conjunctivitis
A 67 year old female who presented with redness, swollen painful left eye,initiallywas treated with topical antibiotic and steroids with a diagnosis of conjunctivitis. On follow up she developed moderate ptosis, minimal proptosis, restriction of EOM ,diffuse corkscrew vessels in conjunctiva noted. MRI done showed carotico cavernous fistula with dialated SOV .cerebral angiogram confirmed CCF and transverse coil embolization done by interventional radiologist which completely resolved her signs and symptoms.
conclusion:this case highlights the importance of recognising subtle clinical signs by thorough ophthalmic evaluation , making a set of differential diagnosis , appropriate investigations and the use of technical advances for a better clinical outcome
