Abstract

Objectives:
To compare Diabetic macular oedema in patients with and without Uncontrolled SHTN using OCT
Methodology:
This is a Cross sectional study, among 100 patients ≥18 years old with type 2 DM. The demographic data,BP,HbA1c level,Visual acuity, fundus and OCT were analyzed.
Results:
Among the subjects, 48 (48%) had Moderate NPDR with CSME followed by 47 (47%) had Severe NPDR with CSME and least 5(5%) had Mild NPDR with CSME. Among the subjects,41(41%) had SME,56(56%) had CME, 69 (69%) had DIRL, 23(23%) had SFF, 36 (36%) had EZD and 43 (43%) had IRC. Proportion of DIRL and IRC were significantly higher among the patients with uncontrolled hypertension. The mean CFT and PFT is significantly higher as the grade of severity of NPDR with CSME increases.
Conclusion:
Effective control of hypertension among the patients with DM,can prevent complications associated with both the diseases.
