Abstract
We are discussing about 15 year old immunocompetent child presenting with presence of macula involving necrotizing retinitis with areas of central clearing at fovea in both eyes. In view of high suspicion of bilateral subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), completely normal systemic evaluation including central nervous system examination and significantly positive serum IgG- measles titres, the child was started on a trial of oral acyclovir 10 mg/kg body weight 5 times a day and was followed up. Slowly the lesions showed complete resolution without any recurrences in the eye.
