FP2152 : Cosmetic outcome of “Graded full thickness anterior blepharotomy” in idiopathic upper lid retraction

Abstract

Study design:This is observational study in pts of idiopathic UL retraction.PURPOSE: To evaluate the cosmetic outcome of graded full thickness anterior blepharotomy(GFTAB) in idiopathic upper eyelid retraction.MATERIAL:12 eyelids of 12 pts with idiopathic upper lid retraction were treated with GFTAB from feb’17 to jan’23. All are treated for cosmetic blemish only. They have no symptoms/signs except asymmetry.RESULTS: Out of 12 pts,9-female & 3- male,Mean age 25yrs with unilateral significant sclera show. Asymmetry between both upper lid was 2-4 mm. Asymmetry divided into two parts, Mild(<2mm),Moderate(2-4mm).In 5 pts revision surgery done. At a mean of 8 months follow up pts with post-op symmetrical eye was 9 (75%) and pts with post-op asymmetry < 1 mm was 3 (25%), no patients have >1 mm asymmetry post-op. No complications.CONCLUSION: GFTAB is safe, effective, simple and single eye surgical technique for patients of asymmetric idiopathic upper lid retraction.
