FP2087 : Evaluation of change in Macular and Ganglion Cell Layer Thickness after Inferior Oblique Weakening.

Abstract

Inferior Oblique muscle lies in close proximity to the macula. Hence, the possibility of surgical trauma while manipulating it is ever present. Prospective Observational Study was done to evaluate the effect of inferior oblique weakening procedures in squint patients on macular and ganglion cell layer thickness among squint patients. 20 squint patients, with Inferior Oblique Over-action (IOOA), were enrolled. Central Macular Thickness (CMT) and Ganglion Cell Layer (GCL) thickness were compared pre operatively and post operatively on day 1, day 7 and day 30. Repeated measure ANOVA was used for testing differences among successive post operative macular thickness and Ganglion Cell Layer (GCL) thickness. Categorical variables between groups were analyzed using Chi square test. The p- values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. No significant difference in CMT values and GCL thickness was observed in the operated eyes as compared to their baseline preoperative values.
