Abstract
We conducted a review of records of infants with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) who were referred to our tertiary care center following intravitreal anti vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) between July 2022 to December 2022. Perinatal history, indication for use of anti-VEGF, type of anti-VEGF, follow up following injection, reason for referral, disease condition at time of referral, outcome following treatment and complications if any were noted. Third eight eyes of 19 infants were included. On initial diagnosis 34 had AROP, 2 had stage 3 ROP and 2 had stage 4b ROP. Median follow up by primary physician following injection was 3 weeks. Nine (47.37%) infants were referred immediately after injection, 8 (42.10%) due to lack of laser facility and 2 (10.53%) after development of tractional retinal detachment. Favorable outcome was achieved in all eyes with laser/surgery. The study emphasizes the need for standardized guidelines for use of anti-VEGF as primary treatment for ROP.
