FP2031 : TITLE: If it’s white, its not right – A case of late presentation of retinoblastoma

Abstract

PURPOSE: Reporting a case on late presentation of Retinoblastoma
METHODS: 7yr/M came to OPD with c/o DOV LE noticed since 8 months. Except a head trauma 1 yr back, past ocular&medical history was normal. No ocular diseases in family. LE Vn PL Neg. A/S LE showed leukocoria&ciliary staphyloma at 12 o’clock.PDE showed mass occupying entire globe.Bscan(LE) showed hyperdense lesion extending from retina to vitreous cavity.CT(Orbit) showed retrolental lesions in intraocular&vitreous regions with calcifications measuring 16x16mm.Retinoblastoma was considered as provisional diagnosis
RESULT:Due to loss of vision,the LE was enucleated and sent for HPE.Post-op HPE showed tumour tissue arranged in sheets of small round cells with scant cytoplasm&pseudorosettes s/o retinoblastoma. The distal end of optic nerve was free from tumour.
CONCLUSION:
Retinoblastoma should always be considered as a possible diagnosis in case of an amelanotic mass lesion in the fundus, even if it is a late presentation
