Abstract
METHODS: This is a retrospective descriptive study of patients who presented following workplace injury for ophthalmic care to a tertiary eye care centre in Bengaluru from 1st February 2022 to 31st January 2023. Their outpatient, ward and operative records were retrieved and reviewed. Information included age, sex, time and mode of injury, type of injury sustained, eye affected, diagnosis, ocular trauma score, investigations, details of medical and surgical management.
RESULTS: -225 patients presented with ophthalmic workplace injury. Most affected age group was 20 to 30 years of age. Majority of workplace injuries happened during day time. Most common mode of injury recorded was Wooden stick. The major cause for immediate visual loss following injury among the study population was Corneal tear. Majority of patients were managed with medical line of treatment. The most common indication among the study population for surgical intervention was Corneal tear.
