FP2711 : A CASE REPORT ON CHRISTMAS TREE CATARACT

Abstract

Aim:To report a case of christmas tree cataract
Methods:A 65 year old female presented with C/O diminution of vision in both eyes since 2 years. HTN since 2 years. O/E: Uncorrected Visual acuity OU: CF 1m Ph-6/18. On slit lamp examination of Right eye: NS 1-2 + Cortical cataract + polychromatic needle shaped crystsls transverse in all directions at 6'o clock position & cutting across the natural limit of Lens fibres, located in the deep cortex & anterior capsule of lens, the colours of the crystals varied according to the angle of incident light; Left eye: NS 2 + Cortical cataract. Fundus OU: WNL
Results:IOP, CBC, BT, CT, RFT, Creatine kinase, ECG – WNL. S.Ca -13.6mg/dl. She underwent SICS & the postoperative VA:6/6
Conclusion: the study has shed light on the fascinating & intricate world of ocular pathology. Through meticulous examination & analysis we have gained valuable insights into the causes, clinical presentations, and potential treatments for this unique form of cataract
