FP1910 : COMPARING SEVERITY AND TREATMENT IN ROP IN PRETERM FOLLOWING ASSISTED VERSUS SPONTANEOUS CONCEPTION

Abstract

PURPOSE : The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the severity and treatment outcome of babies conceived naturally compared to those born by ART.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: This retrospective observational study conducted between January 2018 to January 2022, included 674 premature infants among them 336 (49.8%) conceived naturally and 338 (50.2%) by ART.Statistical analysis was performed using spss software (2022).
RESULTS:Of the natural conception group, 108(32.1%) infants had ROP while in ART group 188 (55.6%) infants had ROP, statistically significant (p <0.0001). A-ROP and plus spectrum disease were higher among ART group compared to natural conception, the results were statistically significant (p <0.0001). The average follow-up was 4.18 years.
CONCLUSION:ART babies has more severe ROP and more plus spectrum disease compared with natural conception. ART babies mostly required combined therapy with both Inj ANTI VEGF and rop laser showed regression if treated on time.
