Abstract

PURPOSE: To find out OCT changes in patients receiving ATT at VIMSAR, BURLA. STUDY DESIGN: prospective observational study; METHODS:34 patients starting ATT were recruited. Detailed history with complete ophthalmic examination: BCVA, contrast sensitivity, colour vision and RNFL measurement by OCT at 0,2 and 6months.
RESULTS: Of the 68 eyes studied, 1.5%(1 eye) showed abnormal colour vision at the end of 2 month and by the end of 6 month 10.3% (7 eyes) showed abnormal colour vision.one (1.5%) patient had reduced contrast sensitivity at the sixth month. We found RNFL thinning in 3(4.4%) eyes at the end of 2 months and 8(11.8%) eyes of the 68 eyes, at the end of 6 month of ATT. The diminution of visual acuity and abnormal colour vision had a significant correlation with RNFL thinning.CONCLUSION: It is evident estimation of visual acuity, colour vision, contrast sensitivity and RNFL thickness at 0,2, 6 months of ATT(especially Ethambutol) are essential to detect early ocular toxicity.
