Abstract
STUDY TYPE: Observational study
AIM: To study the effect of high viscosity and low viscosity artificial tears on K-readings in cataract patients.
METHOD: A total of 120 eyes of 60 patients with bilateral cataract were randomly assigned into two groups and their keratometric values were taken before and after instillation of artificial tears. Statistical analysis was done using paired and unpaired t-test. P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant.
RESULTS: Increase in K-readings after instillation of artificial tears was noted. There was statistically significant increase in K-readings with high viscosity when compared to low viscosity tear drops.
CONCLUSION: The high viscosity artificial tears had more effect on keratometric values.
