Abstract
Study design:Retrospective comparative study. Purpose:To evaluate role of prophylactic topical Nepafenac eyedrops on total macular volume (TMV), Central Macular Thickness(CMT) and Best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) in diabetic eyes undergoing small incision cataract surgery(SICS).
Methods: Data collected from March-23 to October-23 in MRD. Study sample included 80 diabetic eyes undergoing SICS. Pre-operative TMV, CMT and BCVA measured. All eyes had underwent manual SICS. Post-operatively was divided into 2 groups. Both groups had received conventional topical antibiotic steroid eyedrops, plus Group A had received topical Nepafenac. Post-operative TMV,CMT and BCVA were collected from day 7, 28 and 90. Statistical analysis done. Results: The p value of change in TMV, CMT and BCVA compared amongst 2 groups showed no statistically significant difference between the two groups Conclusion: There is no role of topical NSAIDs in diabetic eyes post cataract surgery on macular changes.
