FP1603 : Comparison of predictive accuracy of IOLMaster and Argos for IOL power calculation in children

Abstract

Background: There is a lack of literature comparing the predictive accuracy of these optical biometers in children. Methods: Preoperative Biometry was performed using both IOLMaster and Argos in 16 eyes of children aged 5 to 15 years. The predictive accuracy between biometers was compared. Prediction error was defined as the actual postoperative spherical equivalent minus the predicted SE.Mean Absolute Prediction Error is the mean of the absolute value of prediction error. Results:The mean AL was 21.88±1.22mm with Argos and 21.75±1.27 mm with IOL Master. The mean K was 43.60D±2.54 with Argos and 44.04D±2.24 with IOL master. The mean APE was 0.59±0.4 for IOLMaster and 0.46±0.43 for Argos. The Wilcoxon signed rank test showed that the observed difference between APE from the two biometers is not significant. Conclusion: In conclusion, predictive accuracies of IOLMaster and Argos were comparable. Future research with a larger pediatric study population is warranted.
