FP1595 : Macular edema and response to anti-VEGF in diabetic retinopathy/retinal vein occlusion with OSAS

Abstract

Prospective longitudinal study
PURPOSE: Study the effect of OSAS on disease severity of macular edema in patients of diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion and treatment outcome following anti-VEGF therapy
METHODS: Evaluation of all patients to identify those with macular edema due to diabetic retinopathy or retinal vein occlusion and subjecting them to polysomnography to diagnose OSAS. Monthly Ranibizumab given to all patients and follow-up till edema resolves or status-post 3 Ranibizumab injections. Data collected and analysed.
RESULTS: All participants had significant improvement in vision between first and third visit in mild-moderate OSAS. The decline in CMT post ranibizumab was significant in all grades of OSAS.
CONCLUSION: There was no significant association between the severity of OSAS and CMT. There was statistically significant improvement in vision post ranibizumab in mild-moderate OSAS. The improvement in severe OSAS was not statistically significant.
