FP1491 : Hyperthyroidism & its association with intraocular pressure & dry eye in rural area

Abstract

STUDY DESIGN-prospective study
PURPOSE-To find out correlation between hyperthyroidism with intraocular pressure[IOP] & dry eye in rural area
METHODS-The study was undertaken in the department of ophthalmology at RVMIMS & RC for12 months duration.Goldmann applanation tonometry was used to determine IOP. Dilated stereoscopic 300-color retinal & optic disc images were captured with Zeiss FF3 fundus camera for precise measurement of optic disc dimensions. camera magnification was adjusted through the utilization of spherical equivalent refraction corresponding to each eye.total 90 established hyperthyroidism patients were studied
RESULTS- Raised IOP & dry eyes were seen in our female population and the results were clinically significant(p<0.05).The most common presenting eye sign was found to be diminished vision in almost all pts of hyperthyroidism which was found to be statistically significant
CONCLUSION-raised IOP & dry eye are commonly seen outcomes that should be managed diligently
