Abstract

A 26 year female presented with dimunition of central vision since 3 days sudden in onset, painless and gradually progressive in nature.V/A in RE 6/60 & LE 6/12. BCVA in RE 6/24 & LE 6/6.
Fundus showed presence of neurosensory serous detachment of RE macula. Patient gave H/O receiving oestrogen only HRT & parenteral HCG as a part of infertility treatment since 1 month.
OCT revealed subretinal fluid(SRF) with multiple pigment epithelial detachments in RE.At 2 month follow up,decrease in SRF with V/A improving to 6/9 in RE. HCG is used to treat infertility.As it's analogous to LH it releases testosterone which further binds to androgen receptors in choroid, promoting inflammation thereby leading to hyperpermeable choroidal vessels which overcome barrier function of RPE & allows fluid in subretinal space.CONCLUSION:This case report of undocumented cause of CSR, HCG is important to elicit medical history & practitioner prescribing HCG should be made aware of its association with CSR.
