FP1495 : Correlation of HbA1c with RNFL and Ganglion cell layer thickness in diabetic population.

Abstract

Methods: Cross sectional observational study of 300 diabetic patients divided in 150 equal groups without and with retinopathy and 150 people were included as control which was conducted from October 2020 to August 2022.All patients underwent slit lamp fundoscopy with+78 D lens and high definition (HD)OCT was performed to measure the RNFLT and GCLT and the staging of retinopathy was done as per the ETDRS classification. Quantitative variables were compared using One way ANOVA or Kruskal Wallis test was applied for inter-group comparison followed by a Student Newman Keuls test. The average RNFL thickness was found to be 87.48±9.98μm and 93.51±8.01μm in diabetic patients and controls respectively (p=0.002). The average GCL thickness was 80.92±4.23μm and 85.51±5.66μm in diabetic patients and controls, respectively (p=<0.001). Correlation among diabetes duration HbA1c value, RNFL thickness and GCL thickness in diabetic patients found to be non-significant.
