FP1286 : Outcomes of Cataract surgery with toric intraocular lens implantation in children.

Abstract

Retrospective interventional study
Purpose: To evaluate effect of toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation on refractive outcomes in children with cataract and preexisting corneal astigmatism.

Methods: Retrospectively analysed children aged 14.37± 3.68years in which toric IOLs were implanted after lens aspiration. Compared preoperative keratometric and postoperative refractive cylinder. Pre and post operative visual acuity were also compared.

Results:Included 21 eyes of 16 children. Mean spherical power±SD of toric IOLs implanted 20.82±4.04D.Mean follow up 43.7months.Mean preoperative keratometric cylinder -2.91±1.22(-1.5to-5)D, post operatively -0.50±1.20(-2.12to0)D.
Preoperatively mean corrected distance visual acuity 0.6±0.62 log MAR which improved to 0.04±0.09 log MAR at 3months postoperatively. Uncorrected distance visual acuity post operatively was 0.06±0.09 log MAR.
