FP1263 : Utility of Masquerade procedure in globe salvage

Abstract

Purpose: To determine the utility of masquerade procedure for lid reconstruction and globe salvage , procedure that is poorly described in modern literature. Methods: Retrospective interventional case series of 3 patients .Surgical procedure –posterior lamella separated from anterior lamella and sutured together. Full thickness skin graft taken and sutured over anterior lamella . The flap is divided after two months. Primary outcome analysed was graft related complications .Secondary outcome was globe salvage . Results:age group ranged from 7 years to 60 years. One patient underwent bilateral procedure. The indications were burns ,lid coloboma and iatrogenic lid loss . Follow up ranged from 6 months to 3 years. In all the patients, the eyeball was salvaged. No residual lagophthalmos after flap division. Conclusion: Masquereade procedure can be considered in total lid loss and globe salvage can be attained .
