Abstract

Purpose: To assess the outcome of autologous simple limbal epithelial transplantation in terms of ocular surface stability in unilateral severe chemical injury
Design: This was a postoperative interventional longitudinal study
Method:On the basis of the documented history of chemical injury in the past, Slit lamp examination and ASOCT findings,12 patients of unilateral severe chemical burn were subjected to Autologous SLET under LA between February 2022 to September 2022 at tertiary centre of North India with post op follow up of one year.
Results: The duration between ocular burn and presentation was 1-3 years in 9 (75%) patients. The mean duration of complete epithelization post operatively was 26.25(SD±3.44) days. At the end of one year follow up, BCVA was significantly improved in 11(91.6%) patients . The post operative mean CCT at the end of one year follow up was 547±55.40 µm.
Conclusion: Auto SLET is a simple technique which gives good results even in beginner’s hand .
