Abstract
PURPOSE
To study clinical outcomes of DMEK using pre-prepared donor tissues in eye bank
METHODS
This was a retrospective study in which outcomes were evaluated for 104 consecutive pre-stripped DMEK tissues by a single eye bank from 14 Apr 22 to 02 Aug 23
RESULTS
Primary outcome measure was graft clarity at 1 month. Out of a total of 104 patients, 95 patients (91.3%) had clear and compact graft at the end of 1 month follow up period. 9 had primary graft failure (8.6%) which included 4 patients in which re-bubbling was done. There were 14 cases of lenticule detachment for which patients underwent re-bubbling (13.5%). The average pre-op pachymetry was 619 microns and at 3-6 months post – op mean pachymetry was 498 microns. The mean logMAR visual acuity was 0.25 at 3-6 months follow up.
CONCLUSION
The study has shown that that pre-prepared DMEK donor tissue prepared by Eye Bank have excellent results. With increased experience in preparation, the outcomes are further likely to improve.
