Design:Cross-sectional,comparative study
Purpose:To analyze the relationship between glaucoma severity,glaucoma-related quality of life and treatment in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma.
Methodology:Hospital based cross sectional study.86 patients with mild(24),moderate(25),severe(17) glaucoma and 20 controls were enrolled.Severity classified according to visual field loss.A complete ophthalmic evaluation done.HFA 24-2 and number,category,and duration of topical anti-glaucoma medications was noted.Data analyzed using SPSS version 22.
Results:Mean age of subjects was 58.50± 9.904.minimum duration of topical hypotensive medication were 6months.Mean GQL-15 score in mild, moderate and severe glaucoma was 22.67, 32.76, 53.12 respectively.GQL-15 scores increased with glaucoma severity and multiple drug use.
Conclusion:This study identified a poorer quality of life in glaucoma patients.With increase in severity of glaucoma,corresponding decrease in quality of life was observed.
