STUDY DESIGN: Analytical Observational study

AIM: To analyse the affect of anti-hypertensive medications like calcium channel blocker (CCB) and Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) at bedtime on Ocular perfusion pressure (OPP) and progression of Primary open angle glaucoma (POAG).

METHOD: 50 Patients diagnosed with POAG on anti-glaucoma medication, who were on bedtime anti-hypertensive medications were divided into two groups and their Intraocular pressure (IOP), blood pressure (BP), ocular perfusion pressure (OPP) were measured . Statistical analysis was done using independent sample t-test for intergroup comparison. P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

RESULTS: Mean OPP was low in both the anti-hypertensive groups. There was no statistically significant difference between both the groups.

CONCLUSION: Patients having low OPP have more advanced stages of glaucoma which maybe attributable to the use of bedtime anti-hypertensive medications.
