Abstract
Design:Prospective analysis
Purpose:To compare the intraocular pressure(IOP) taken by rebound tonometry(RBT) using iCare iC200 and Applanation tonometry(AT) in pseudophakic & aphakic children & assess the effect of central corneal thickness(CCT) & axial length(AL) on IOP
Methods:A prospective study conducted over 6 months on pseudophakic & aphakic children of 2-8 years of age.Attempt to measure IOP was made in all pseudophakic & aphakic children with rebound tonometer followed by applanation tonometer
Results:137 eyes of 137 patients were included with a mean+/-SD age of 4.6+/-2.04 years. The mean+/-SD recorded IOP with AT and RT was 14.6+/-5.51 mmHg and 17.9+/-9.14 mmHg, respectively. In 86 eyes (62.8%) IOP was recorded successfully. Agreement by Bland Altman plots was limited in <21mmHg groups(mean difference 2.91),while agreement was poor in >21mmHg groups(mean difference 6.98)
Conclusion: RBT overestimated the IOP in eyes with higher IOP, thicker pachymetry and aphakic children.
