Abstract
A 12-year-old boy presented to ER with alleged history of injury to left side of his face by a fire-cracker 1 day back with sudden painful loss of vision in his left eye following injury. He had laceration of 1.5×0.5cm about 2cm below his left lower lid which was already sutured. He had no perception of light in his LE & VA of 6/6 in RE. His LE was displaced inferiorly, with periorbital ecchymosis, conjunctival chemosis, restricted ocular movements & dilated non-reacting pupil. CT imaging showed a well-defined rounded hyperdensity structure in retrobulbar space of left orbit with possible compression of left optic nerve & extra ocular muscles and antero-inferior displacement of left globe. Patient was taken for surgical exploration under GA through inferior trans-conjunctival approach. A marble with approx. diameter of 1.5cm was found lodged in retrobulbar space. It was extracted without any further complications and patient’s pain and ecchymosis improved significantly post surgery.
