FP1948 : Periorbital arteriovenous malformation with rhinosporidiosis extending to the oropharynx-Case report

Abstract

Study Design: Rare case report, Purpose: To report a rare presentation and progression of periorbital mass, which initially mimicked a low-flow vascular malformation and subsequently transformed into an arteriovenous malformation(AVM) in imaging. finally, histopathology found AVM with rhinosporidiosis. Method: A 48-year-old male presented with a painless, progressive mass medially below the right eye's lower lid. Initially suggested a low-flow vascular malformation due to its clinical and MRI findings. However, angio CT suggests AVM extending up to the oropharynx nasal endoscopy found rhinosporidiosis Results: Histopathological examination confirmed the presence of rhinosporidiosis with AVM. Conclusion: This rare case report demonstrates the atypical presentation of periorbital rhinosporidiosis coexisting with AVM. This report emphasizes the need for a multidisciplinary approach involving clinicians, radiologists, and pathologists to accurately diagnose and manage such rare cases.
