Abstract

Purpose: To study safety and efficacy of the "Ab Interno Bleb Revision" technique to manage failed trabeculectomy blebs
Methods: This prospective interventional case series study included patients with failed trabeculectomy blebs. 5 days prior to surgery, a subconjunctival injection of Mitomycin C was given, followed by bleb revision using Grover and Fellman sclerostomy spatula.
Results: A total of 24 eyes from 23 patients were studied. The mean age of failed trabeculectomy blebs was 5.35 + 5.4 years. The preoperative mean IOP was 23.54 +10.7 mmHg, and the antiglaucoma medications were 3.72 + 0.65, respectively, which decreased to 13.5+- 3.94 (p = 0.002) and 1.3+-1.12 (p =.00001) at a one-year. Complete success was seen in 7 (29%), qualified success in 12 (50%), and failure (IOP > 21 mmHg) in 5 (20%) patients. Hyphaema was the most common complication that occurred in 5 patients (23%)
Conclusion: This found to be a safe, effective and minimally invasive surgery with faster recovery
