Abstract
Purpose- To compare parameters of anterior chamber angle using UBM between diabetics and non-diabetics.
Methods- Prospective cross-sectional study with 150 subjects in each group.Comprehensive ocular examination was done and RBS noted. UBM examination for CCT, AOD500, AOD750, TISA500 and TISA750, SSA, LV,ACD,angle to angle distance,CBT were done and average of 3 readings taken. Analysis was done using Mann whitney test and p-value of <0.05 was considered significant.
Results-The mean age was 34.77 years in non-diabetic and 51.03years in diabetic group with males preponderence.79 patients had no retinopathy and 48had mild retinopathy.Gonioscopy showed anterior chamber was shallower with longer duration and higher grades of retinopathy. All parameters except CCT and TISA 500 were significantly affected between two groups. All angle parameters values except angle to angle distance was more in non-diabetics.
Conclusion-Duration and severity of diabetes affects angle of the anterior chamber.
