Abstract
Study Design – Retrospective study
Purpose – To highlight the findings of congenital and acquired cases of toxoplasmosis in patients presenting to the OPD of a tertiary care hospital.
Methods – Patients who presented to the OPD of a tertiary care hospital in Northeast India. Patients were investigated for visual acuity, slit lamp examination, fundus examination, fundus photo, FFA and laboratory investigations.
Results – Patient database was used to collect details of 37 patient diagnosed to have ocular toxoplasmosis. Of which males(n=20), females(n=17), congenital cases(n=23), unilateral(n=8), bilateral(n=15/65%), most common ocular finding was chorioretinitis(n=22). Acquired cases(n=14), unilateral(n=11), bilateral(n=3), most common ocular finding was Retinochoroiditis(n=12). Treatment{n=22(congenital n=10/acquired n=12)}. Visual acuity improvement >3 line(n=12). Conclusion Congenital healed variety was most common presentation. Azithromycin was effective in active cases
