FP2626 : Seeing the Unseen: Ocular Trauma's Sociopsychological and economic Implications for Quality of Life"

Abstract

Study design : Hospital-based longitudinal observational study. Purpose : To study the outcomes of ocular trauma in terms of visual disability and it’s effect on the social, economic and psychological aspect among patients surviving with the traumatic eye. Methods : Detailed history of trauma event, EQ 5D 5L Questionnaire, Detailed interview about different aspect of the life. Results: Ocular trauma significantly affect the work life of 61% those who face discrimination. 59% patients were struggling with relationship problems in their routine life after trauma. 7% was got divorced or broke up. After ocular trauma 78% patients having psychological issue issues among them 73% patient does not seek any psychiatric treatment. Around 70% patient start to avoid social events. Conclusion: Ocular trauma may influence life quality and mental well-being of people. psychological and psychiatric support is needed in the follow-up of subjects suffered from eye traumas.
